While it may have seemed that the former President, Donald Trump, quipped back at a comedian who did a live stand-up act that triggered him, turned the events into a turbulent, headline-making blaze that was hotly discussed.

The event happened at a very distinguished gathering where the President was in attendance, probably assuming that he would be met with a mixture of approval and criticism as he frequently has been. Some think that obviously, he did not even wink letting to have nothing to say at the comedian's joke and smiling as if nothing happened, and others are sure that he did not contain himself without visibly bristling at the comedian's barbs.
However, it didn't really matter to Trump how he responded in that incident since it immediately started being an issue discussed in by pundits and social media commentators, and it sparked heated debates on how much punishment a politician should get for a joke. On the one hand of the story, the people who supported the comedian's right to freedom of speech and considered the act a courageous move that aimed at challenging the authoritarianism saw the whole thing as a positive phenomenon. Some others, however, viewed the performance as disrespectful and unprofessional.
With the mysterious maze of political argument continuing to thicken, moments such as these, however, stand as reminders that the ability of satire is not only to provoke, entertain, and but also elicit controversy. The Trump press conference reflects how even when true, the way the claims are presented (be it genuineness or calculation) can change the focus of the event. It once again shows how such a powerful person can try to change hands on power or use different tactics to prove the message.
